review number two “50 Things Every Young Gentleman Should Know”

Posted in Uncategorized on May 4, 2009 by 15biggern

“Good manners are a matter of commen sense and courtsy, so a gentleman should begin to develop them as soon as he is able. Unlike like driving a car or voting, there are no age limitaitions that prevent a young from doing things the right way until he is sixteen or eigheen. In fact, many of the actions that make a gentleman a gentleman are ones that are thirteen-year-old can perform as skillfully as a man of fifty three.”

These are some honest words writtin by John Bridges and Bryan Curtis. “50 Things Every Young Gentleman Should Know” is a really helpfull book that will help all men with their manners.  This book made me think twice about everything that will happen in the future.

It will help you so that you will be able to accomplish things when you grow up. The book is giving us messages to become a better person and have fun while your doing them. For an example, us kids like to go to parties with our friends or girlfriend/boyfriend and have fun, to do that you have to do good in school and if people think you act like a slum, what do you think your girlfriend/boyfriend and your friends will think about you?

Did you know that a person can tell a lot about you just by your handshake? It’s true, If you had a dirty hand that you just played with making mud pies, and you shake your friends dads hand, your friends dad might not like your friend playing with you. These two writters have recommended this book to help us.

I would like to recommend this book to all the boys in YIS.

Book Review: Diary of Anne Frank, a photographic story of a life

Posted in Uncategorized on April 23, 2009 by 15biggern

This book was exciting but sometimes it felt like the book kept repeating the same thing over and over.            The book did give a lot of information if you want to learn about the holocaust and World War II. I think that the book had its us and downs. I thought that the book was more about the war other then Anne and the Franks, but sometimes it wouldn’t really matter because the story was so sad that you just wanted to cry. The book was well written and extremely descriptive and intriguing.

Prior to the book, i heard about Anne Frank and i was always curious about how long she hid from the Nazis and how she died. Curiousity was what made me want to read “The Diary of Anne Frank”. A lot of people think about World War II but some people think about how sad the Jews felt in the Holocaust. Hiding from people for a couple of years and never leaving your home, that is how jews felt. The sorrow the Jews felt makes you feel bad about how the Nazis tortured the Jews.

The way the author wrote this book made it sound like she wrote the book in the time the Holocaust was present. The author made it sound like we were in one of the consantration camps. All of the Jews felt sorrow including Anne, Otto, Peter, and even Margot. Anne was a brave, young writer, smart, curious, and quiet girl.  When the Franks heard that Hitler was going to take over Europe, they went into hiding. If you like history, you will definitly love this book.

My fantasy factory

Posted in Uncategorized on January 18, 2009 by 15biggern

If i had to own a factory or work in one, i would work in a movie factory cause i could watch movies. i also think that i could get a lot of money from all of the movies. Some times i would be able to see new movies that i never knew was coming out. I love movies cause i love seeing titles that sound interesting like for an example ” You’ve got mail”. It sounds interesting to me just by the name of the movie. Sometimes my mom and i go shopping in America looking at movies that are new and out so you can buy them because they give me ideas of movies that i could want for Christmas or my birthday. So if i was looking at covers in a factory, i could watch them and see if there good or not. If i was the owner i also would buy a lot of the movies that i like because i have a lot of money. I wouldn’t always waist my time just watching movies but i would do my work trying to get the movies where they are supposed to be at. Cause if i dont do my work, some inspectors will come and i will get in trouble and get fired

Roald Dahl reflection

Posted in Uncategorized on November 19, 2008 by 15biggern

6B has been making a reflection on Roald Dahl and how he is a good author and what we think of him. If you read any of his books, I’m sure you will be inspired. He has a great chice of words and makes a lot of people want to by his books. Our class has a section on Roald Dahl and ours has a lot of facts about Roald Dahl and how his life was and i did facts and history. There  was a picture group, history, facts and the illustraters group, history and facts. Everyone had a part in this reflection and we all had to plan in a circle of what we should do and we voted Walter to be our leader and he said everyone in a group has to do a study of him and see what people think of him.  We had to do research for homework and Angus told me some facts and then i got some information on my own. On the last day, we had to put together our information and put it on the bord. After we did that, we had a reflection on how we think we did. I thought 6B did well but could have done a little bit better.
